I don't do much fund raising, but the concerns of the YWCA, "to eliminate racism and empower women" are important values to me. The race itself also raises awareness about the need to eradiate the kind of hate that led a gunman in 1999 to kill Ricky Byrdsong and a Korean-American graduate student and wound six Orthodox Jews and another African-American man before taking his own life.
