Welcome to Tina's Page
I am participating in the 20th Annual Race Against Hate in Evanston on Father’s Day. I have pledged to raise money for an organization that promotes racial justice and violence prevention programs. The Race Against Hate unites people of different racial, religious and ethnic backgrounds to celebrate diversity, promote reconciliation and declare that racism is not welcome or tolerated ANYWHERE in America.
The race is held every Father's Day in memory of Northwestern University basketball coach, Ricky Byrdsong, who was fatally shot in 1999 while jogging near his home with his two youngest children.
Ricky Byrdsong (Skokie), an African American man, was killed by a white supremacist, who went on a shooting spree killing six Jewish people (Roger’s Park), two African Americans (Springfield), one Korean-American graduate student (Indiana), a Taiwanese (Urbana) and another African American man (Decatur), before being killed by police during a high-speed chase.
There’s a lot of work to be done with gun violence and hate crimes. Please help in raising awareness and combatting hatred, by helping raise money for this deserving organization. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you!
Tina
