Race Against Hate 2018

Saint John's Episcopal Church - Chicago

Welcome to the St. John's - Chicago team page for the 2018 Ricky Byrdsong Memorial Race Against Hate.

All are welcome to join to walk, run, or donate in unity against racial hatred and violence. Proceeds from this event are to be used to support the mission and work of a local YWCA, with particular focus on work toward racial justice and violence prevention.

Each year, the Race Against Hate brings together thousands of people to run and walk in unity and against racial hatred and violence. The race is in memorial to Ricky Byrdsong (1956 - 1999), former Northwestern University basketball coach, who, while jogging in Skokie, IL, near his home, was shot and killed in front of two of his children by a white supremacist in a hate-crime killing spree that spanned across two states. The Race Against Hate was established to honor Ricky's legacy and to bring attention to the need to combat hatred and violence in all of its forms.
