Living our mission every day
Join YWCA Evanston/North Shore in our mission is to understand, challenge, and eliminate racism.
We know that racism is more than personal bias; racism continues because it is built into our institutions and policies, fostering predictable patterns of inequity. And we are dedicated to promoting racial equity at the individual, interpersonal, and institutional levels by partnering with individuals and institutions through training and education, community engagement programs, and annual events.
We are here to help you start or continue your journey.
- deepen the knowledge that individuals can utilize to become more effective anti-racist advocates
- help build commitments to policies and practices that create long-term, sustainable change
- invite open dialogue and discussion towards mutual understanding
- raise awareness of oppression on the interpersonal, institutional, and systemic levels
We invite you to contact Racial Justice Institute Director Eileen Hogan Heineman (847-864-8445) to learn more. And we encourage you to live the mission with us.
